AstaXanthin (asta-zan-thin) is a naturally occurring Carotenoids pigment which is a powerful biological antioxidant. Studies have shown that antioxidants exhibit strong free radical scavenging activities and protect against lipid peroxidation and oxidative damage of LDL-cholesterol, cell membranes, cells, tissues and may prevent damage to the retina caused by strong sunlight. AstaXanthin may be used to protect eye health from ultra-violet light, and to support the Cardiovascular and Neurological System.
 
Our product is made using BioAstin® Natural Astaxanthin, the world's best selling brand of astaxanthin for humans. It was the first source of astaxanthin for human nutrition reviewed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In August 1999, BioAstin completed a review by the FDA without objection and was allowed to be sold in the United States as a human dietary supplement.
 
BioAstin's benefits derive from its superior antioxidant activity and from its ability to support and maintain natural inflammatory response, enhancing skin, muscle and joint health.
 
A growing body of scientific literature demonstrates that natural astaxanthin surpasses many of the antioxidant benefits of vitamin C, vitamin E, beta-carotene and other carotenoids. Human and animal studies have shown that natural astaxanthin can:

• protect the skin from the damaging effects of ultraviolet radiation
• enhance the immune system
• enhance energy metabolism

Research has also shown that natural astaxanthin has up to 550 times the antioxidant activity of vitamin E and 10 times the antioxidant activity of beta-carotene.  AstaXanthin has been the focus of a large and growing number of peer-reviewed scientific publications.
